Richard Scott

Musician, teacher, composer and longstanding vocalist with ‘The Grand Union Orchestra’, ‘The Appletwig Song Book’ and musical director of the acclaimed ‘Heaton Voices’ and Wansbeck Voices.

As a workshop leader with Grand Union Orchestra, Richard has worked with groups such as the Islington Chinese Women’s Choir, Bradford Asian Girls Choir and with Y3 degree students from Northumbria University.
After graduating from Northumbria University, he trained as a secondary music teacher, then worked in Sunderland before becoming free lance in the 90’s.
At the Sage Gateshead Jazz Festival he regularly creates a scratch jazz choir in a weekend.
He’s recently worked along side Vanessa Redgrave, Terrence Stamp, Gemma Arterton and Christopher Eccleston on 2012 film ‘A Song for Marion’.

Richard's session will draw repertoire from his vast experience of world music and combine djembe drumming and movement.
